Brad Gross for Mayor

Let’s bring back Friendly Manitoba.

Hello, Winnipeg. I’m Brad Gross, and I’m running for mayor.

Vote October 28

Brad Gross for Mayor — Let’s bring back Friendly Manitoba platform board
Ten points

A clear plan, in plain language.

01

Customer service back at City Hall

When you call, you should reach the department you need and get an answer. It’s your city. It’s your money.

02

Control spending. Bring in income.

Control overspending and misspending. Negotiate better deals. Put unused city land to work: industrial sites, businesses, jobs. Advertising sales and naming rights can help pay for services.

03

Better roads and traffic lights

Better roads. Lights coordinated so traffic keeps moving and emergency vehicles can get through.

04

Safer streets

More police downtown. Build a stronger working relationship between police and residents. Support police work against human trafficking in Winnipeg so victims are protected. The mayor does not run the police service — this is a council priority and a partnership, not a new force the mayor creates alone.

05

Retail safety and safer bus shelters

Work with police and retailers on a cadet presence where theft is a problem. Safer bus shelters: cameras, monitoring, and a response when there is trouble.

06

Housing, mental health, and assisted living

Repair vacant homes, get people housed, and work with the province on mental health care and assisted living. Help needs follow-through.

07

Our rivers, our history, and tourism

First Nations and the Red River Métis have travelled these rivers for many moons. Honour that history. Grow riverfront tourism, celebrate riverboats, and add docking. This is respect and partnership, not a claim to speak for any Nation.

08

Family fun

Pursue waterslide parks and wave pools for families in the north, south, east, and west — as private or partnership projects, not a promise the city will build and run five parks.

09

Alexander Docks and investment

Move Alexander Docks forward through relationships, investment partnerships, and naming-rights opportunities.

10

New city revenue — work for it

Where will the money come from? We’ll work for it.

  • Transit advertising. About $2.3 million today. First-year goal: $6 million.
  • Digital advertising on city assets. First-year sales goal: $22 million.
  • Riverfront development. Jobs, tourism, rental income.
  • Tourism income. Grow what Winnipeg already earns from visitors.

Goals, not guarantees. Subject to council, contracts, and the law.

Where will the money come from — new city revenue: transit advertising, digital signs, riverfront development, tourism

Now do you understand the game I’ll be playing?

Negotiate better deals to help you save money and grow the city.

Better service. Controlled spending. More income. More jobs. A safer city we can all enjoy.

I’ll get on the phone, negotiate, and get things moving.
